Why Hockey Players Make Great Golfers

Many people have noticed that hockey players tend to be great golfers. There are a few reasons for this, and we can use this knowledge to improve our own golf swings.

Many golfers make the mistake of having overactive hands… flipping their wrists. The body tends to straighten up in reaction, and you lose a ton of power.

Hockey players are forced to rely on their body to rotate through the shot because of the fact that their hands are separated on the stick. We can borrow this for golf with a great little drill that I share in this video.

There are a number of other benefits from this drill, so give it a try the next time you are hitting balls!

Wrist Plane in the Golf Swing

Wrist Plane in the Golf Swing

I get a lot of questions about how your hands and arms work in the golf swing. So, think about what’s connecting them.

Your wrist should stay at a 90-degree angle to your swing arc throughout your golf swing. Your wrist is hinging and unhinging, not twisting.

Trail Shoulder External Rotation Golf

In this video Troy shows you how to make a pro downswing by showing you how to get trail shoulder external rotation golf. This pro move has many great benefits to your golf swing including shallowing out your downswing and getting you into the slot. This works for all skill level golfers especially those that struggle with the downswing and are not sure what external rotation in golf is.

Getting your trail shoulder externally rotating is a big difference between pro and amateur golfers. If you can master this it will go a long way to helping you become a more consistent golfer. Practice at home first slowly without hitting any golf balls. Work your way up to hitting short shots at the golf driving range focusing on getting external rotation of the trail shoulder.

TRY THIS GOLF SWING SEQUENCE DRILL TO STOP EARLY RELEASE

An easy and natural golf swing sequence for effortless swing speed and consistency is what you want. This simple golf swing practice drill will do just that.

It will also help you stop the early release golf swing which is swing fault by casting, hitting from the top of the backswing. This causes a loss of angle created with the club shaft and lead arm in the downswing. Lag.

This is one of the most common swing faults and has a huge influence on contact and producing power to the golf ball.

You see, using the ground in your golf swing is key for power and consistency and so is waiting to strike.

This drill will help you do just that.

But one thing I want you to do is start the downswing in the right sequence and stop early release.

This is really important when it comes to getting energy from the lower body to the torso then arms and hands and eventually to the golf club.

Which, in turn delivers an easy golf swing and allows the club to more of the work for you.
