Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and fans of golf are some of the most fanatical in the world. Do you wonder what the fuss is about golf? Well lets begin with the basics.

Golf is a simple game. You've got clubs and a ball. You have to hit the ball into a series of holes laid out in the middle of a large, grassy field. After you reach the 18th hole, you may want to go to a bar and tell lies about your on-course feats to anyone you did not play with that day.

If you're like most people, you play golf for relaxation and a chance to see the great outdoors. If you're like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods, you make a bazillion dollars on top of seeing the great outdoors.

Of course, there are some obstacles. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, who called golf "a silly game played with implements ill-suited for the purpose," the game is not always straightforward.

Golf can be the best game in the world and then also the worst. It will frustrate you and at times you may even lose your temper. I have seen people break clubs over their knee and throw clubs in water too all out of frustration. These people though still go back onto the golf course and when you get it right it can be one of the best feelings in the world. To take up golf is to participate in a sport that will be with you for your whole life.
