Taylormade drivers have always been extremely popular and the Taylormade R11 Driver is looking like being no exception with rave reviews from most new owners.

It has a very distinctive look with its white crown and black face. This appeals to most while a few other golfers are not so impressed. The majority soon get over the initial shock when they have hit a few balls and see the results.

The white color makes the 440cc club head appear slightly larger which can have the affect of giving the user more confidence. Aiming is easier because of the contrast of the white with the green grass. It is also matte white to cut down on the reflection on sunny days. The black face helps with aligning at address. There is also the new aerodynamic shape designed for faster club head speed and therefore added distance.

At a recent pro/am tournament I attended the R11 drivers were very conspicuous when the players walked up to the tee. Something that would appeal to those that “must be seen to have the latest” in their golf bag.

The Taylormade R11 has excellent adjustability features which contribute to straighter, longer drives. Something all golfers are striving towards.

The three adjustability’s of the R11 are –

· Flight Control Technology – This enables you to increase or decrease the launch angle.

· Adjustable Sole Plate – By altering the sole plate up or down (which is really simple with the torque wrench) you can adjust the face angle. This means you can select an open, closed or neutral face angle.

· Movable Weight Technology – This allows you to adjust the centre of gravity which will promote a fade or draw. All of these adjustments can be made in a matter of minutes to tune the driver to the user’s individual swing with a single torque wrench.

The combination of these three technologies gives the Taylormade R11 owner up to 48 combinations of loft, face angle and draw/fade bias to play with. This means the driver can be tailored to fit every golfers needs.

Both right and left handed is available, of course, and there is the option of 9 degree or 10.5 degree loft. The shaft material is Fujikura Blur 60 graphite with shaft flex options of regular/senior/stiff/x-stiff so something to suit everyone.

Most R11 driver owners report that they are achieving more distance but are even more impressed with the fact that it is also very forgiving and accurate allowing them to hit the middle of the fairway, which has got to be a big positive.

The feel is a dampened, muted, soft feel with some spring in the face which disappoints some golfers saying it feels dead while others are quite happy. There are also varying comments on the sound the driver makes on impact.

Also available is a TP version for the more advanced golfers and professionals with several more options in shafts.

The majority of golfers using the Taylormade R11 driver are extremely happy with their purchase. Hitting longer and straighter drives has significantly improved their game.
