Golf shoulder pain is very common among those that play the game. It can be a very painful injury and one that can prevent you from playing the game at all. A shoulder injury can take a long time to heal if you are not willing to change some things to promote the process. This article will discuss some highlights of what you can do to prevent the injury in the first place.

Shoulder pain typically comes from injury to the rotator cuff or the shoulder bursa. There is a great deal of repetitive force transmitted through the shoulders during your golf swing that can easily inflame these structures and lead to pain. If you experience this problem here are some things you can do to remedy the situation.

1. The first is to shorten your backswing. This will minimize the stress placed on the shoulders which often occurs from a longer backswing. A full backswing forces the shoulders to an end range of motion that places undo stress on the joint and tissue structures. Many golfers believe that is they shorten their backswing they will lose distance from their drive. This is not necessarily true if you perfect your technique and strengthen the appropriate muscles.

2. The next solution to preventing golf shoulder pain is to stretch and strengthen the muscles involved in the golf swing. The better condition these muscles are in, the better they will be able to handle the stresses you place on them while they are protecting the shoulder joint structure from injury.

Regardless of how good your technique is there is one thing working against all of us. That is the aging process. As our bodies age it is normal for us to lose muscle mass, water content in the muscles and surrounding tissues making them more brittle and prone to injury. We lose coordination and flexibility as well. All of these things combined will predispose us to injury. You can counter these affects by simply living a healthy lifestyle.

This healthy lifestyle must include proper nutrition, rest, cardiovascular exercise and stretching and strengthening. Of course you must drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain normal body functions at every level. Even at an older age your muscles will respond to strengthening and flexibility so you can get stronger and more limber. This will certainly help prevent golf shoulder pain from developing.

People will do just about anything to improve their game of golf. They spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying lots of golf swing training aids or the best golf equipments out there just to shave off a few strokes. Unfortunately, it just is not that easy.

The golf swing is a very delicate motion. If you try to force it you'll shank, hook, or just simply not hit the ball. To hit the golf ball correctly, there are 3 important fundamentals you must know before the understanding the technicality of a golf swing.

Fundamental # 1Balance . You must remain balanced at ALL times during your swing, meaning from your address position to your finishing pose. If you lose your balance during your swing, chances are that you're swinging too hard! Remember, hitting the golf ball far is not about strength, but using the proper techniques and tempo.

Fundamental # 2Tempo . A good swing must have the right rhythm and tempo. The tempo is the transition from the speed of your upswing to your downswing. Everyone must establish their own tempo, some players have fast tempo like Tom Watson and some have a slower tempo like Ernie Els. A slower tempo does not mean shift distance. Take a look at Ernie Els. His nickname is "The Big Easy" because he swings so easy, but yet he hits so far! The key thing to remember about finding the right rhythm is to never rush the swing.

Fundamental # 3Stay relaxed . All good golf trainers will tell you to stay relaxed. Never tense up your body! Like how a 100m sprinter would not tense up their legs during the race, you would not tense up your body during your swing. You want a smooth motion, not a robotic and stiff golf swing. Staying relaxed is also directly related to the strength of your grip. If you're tense, chances are that you're gripping the club too tight. The perfect grip strength should be at around 3 on a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the strongest. This means that you should be holding the club fairly comfortable and relaxed.

Before you try to get into the technical stuff in a golf swing, you must understand these important fundamentals. So the next time you practice your golf swing, remember the tips from Golf Swing Trainers. Stay relaxed, remain balanced, and establish the right tempo! Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect!
