Do you go after the pin all the time when playing a round of golf?

Having good golf course management is such an integral part of shooting great scores out on the course. How do those pro players do it?

It's usually through the school of hard knocks. Day after day and round after round tells them what is a good decision on the course and what is not such a good decision.

Now, what are we left to do when we are not playing as much as they do? Well here's some great golf tips to help your game.

Take the next couple of rounds and experiment to see what course management suits you.

Take the first round and go for absolutely everything. Whether it's a 3 iron or sand wedge, take it right at the flag. Even if there is a lake or out-of-bounds, go for it.

Take the next round and go for absolutely nothing without you have a pitching wedge or sand wedge from the fairway. Every other shot aim about 20 feet to the safe side of the pin.

When you do this you are going to see almost assuredly that the more conservative play yields the better scores.

Amateur golfers play much too boldly trying to force the issue to get those birdies but bringing into play too much trouble.

Try these golf course management tips and you will find that you may do well on some of the bold shots but for the most part taking the conservative route is the way to go.

Of all the official golf rules, number of clubs is one that can be easily overlooked or ignored, but it is an important rule to follow. Violating the rules number of clubs will result in not just one stroke penalty, but a penalty for every hole on the golf course that you continue to play with too many clubs.

According to golf rules, number of clubs you are allowed to carry with you during a round of golf is a maximum of fourteen. More than fourteen clubs will cause you to be penalized, and you can get a penalty for each extra club over fourteen that you have. Golf rules number of clubs does not say that you can not have less than fourteen clubs, just no clubs over that number. With these rules, number of clubs still includes your putter. With a limit of fourteen imposed by the golf rules, you will still have an adequate clubs to complete your golf round successfully, including a putter, wedges, irons, woods, and a driver.

If you wish to take an extra club with you to the golf course that may be new and you want to try out, this is still allowed as long as you do not violate the rules number that says no more than fourteen clubs in your golf bag. This golf rule also does mean that you can not switch out the golf clubs in your bag during the round. But, if you started the round with less than fourteen clubs, you are allowed to add golf clubs to your bag during the round of golf, as long as you do not exceed the maximum of fourteen clubs. The rules do say that when adding clubs to your bag, you can not cause undue delay or borrow these clubs from another player on the course.

If you are sharing your golf bag with another player, you still must keep your number of clubs at fourteen or under, according to the golf rules. During an important golf competition or tournament, you are allowed to count your opponents number of clubs if you have speculation that they may be violating the rules number of clubs. But, if you discover that they are in violation of this golf rule, you must inform them or a rules official immediately.

Remember, that violating the number of clubs golf rule is a serious matter on the golf course. If you are a beginner, you should not worry too much about this rule, unless you are participating in your first tournament play.

How Golf Relieves Stress

How Can Golf Relieve Your Stress

It seems that overcoming the mental game of golf is the greatest challenge. Admittedly, golfing can be stressful. Many people will feel a tremendous amount of anxiety or tension, especially in the moments before making a difficult shot.

I suppose that is what is so alluring about the game of golf, over that mental panic we feel when faced with a significant challenge. It heightens our senses and if we can overcome our fears, our focus can become incredibly sharp. If we are able to make a great golf shot, it is very rewarding.

I found it fascinating to watch some LPGA Pro-Am golf tournaments on TV where the amateurs would have their heart rate monitored. Their greatest moments of heart racing occurred just prior to meeting an LPGA star like Anika Sorenstam or Natalie Gulbis. C’mon, admit it – you’re heart would be racing if you got to play golf against one of these gals.

How Golf Relieves Stress Walking for four plus hours on a golf course is naturally great exercise (Lazy cart golfers do not can not really claim any health benefit here). The body will have a stimulated blood flow and release of endorphins from the exercise.

Golf can be a great cardio workout. Here’s some of the health benefits of playing golf:

Improves heart and lungs efficiency and increases circulation

Your body burns fat and you raise your metabolism

Reduces risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes

Helps you sleep more soundly

Strengthens muscles of your core and lower body

Strengthens bones and maximizes bone density

Reduces stiffness in muscles and joints

Improves flexibility and posture

Improves mental capacity and concentration

Elevates mood, self confidence, and reduces risks of depression

Why do so many people like to do business on the golf course? It seems that especially for men, when they are in the act of accomplishment, they feel good about themselves and want to do business. Possibly this goes back to some sort of tribal, hunting instincts.

I also think golf is a great way to discover about a persons true character. You can tell a lot about someone by the way that they react to little mistakes that they make, how they react when they get frustrated or angry, and how they think based on their self-talk. You can also often tell about someone’s honesty – if they will cheat or lie about their golf score, you can bet that dishonesty is their nature.

My best advice if you want golf to tie your stress: Make it your intention to
HAVE FUN when you golf. If you’re taking the game too seriously, you’ll find you let little things worry you and you will get stressed out.

Learn from the example of the best players on tour – even though they get frustrated when they make a bad shot, they drop that memory of the past and immediately move back into a resourceful state.

Take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the friends you have around you.

If you know of any authoritative studies or medical research on golf and stress
I’d love to know about them. Please slip me a note or post comments on my golf blog [http://www.golftrainingaidsreviewed.com/blog] .
