Have you ever noticed that the harder you swing the golf club the less farther it goes? Yet, how many times have you played golf with the guy who thinks he has to take a rip at the ball like he was trying to make it explode? In this and other golf swing instructions you’re going to discover how a smooth golf swing will not only have you hitting the ball more consistently, but also a lot farther.

As most golfers know, the proper way to swing a golf club isn’t to try to swing it as hard as you can. Inevitably when you do this your ball is going to go all over the course. If your goal is to simply relieve a lot of tension, then that method will work, but if you’re serious about playing better golf you’ll want to try a different approach.

Playing better golf requires better accuracy. You can prove this to yourself by doing a simple test. When you’re at the practice range the next time, hit two balls with any golf club you prefer. Swing one as hard as you possibly can and swing the other much slower than you usually do. Which one was more accurate? Notice I asked which was more accurate, not longer.

Take what you just proved to yourself and look at the golf swing instructions listed here for a smooth golf swing.

1. Relax – Take a couple of deep breaths when you get set up over the ball. It will help you swing the club more smoothly. Don’t tense up and try to muscle the ball.

2. Stance – Put your feet a little more closer together. Be sure you maintain a good center of gravity which leads to proper balance. When you swing the club you don’t want your feet moving around or coming up off the ground.

Another area to be aware of with any golf swing techniques is keeping your head still. When you swing too hard you’ll notice your head tends to jerk up and down. This leads to thin or fat golf shots.

3. Focus – You want to focus on a smooth easy swing. Concentrate on making solid contact with the ball and not on a 300 yard distance marker. Your goal is accuracy and not power right now. When you swing slower you have more control, which leads to better accuracy.

Once you have this mastered you can then begin to add a little more power to your swing. Do this gradually so that you’re not losing your accuracy. If you discover yourself spraying balls all over the course, slow down.

By applying these golf swing instructions, I can promise you that your golf game will improve dramatically in the accuracy department. And when you think about it, that’s more important than hitting a 300 yard drive that goes out in the woods, leaving you with no shot.
