When you read about the new Garmin GPS systems, you may wonder what advantages one model has over another. For example, what is it about a Garmin Nuvi 1350 that makes it worth $ 50 more than the basic 1300 model? If you read the advertising copy you'll find that both of them have 4.3-inch touchscreens, come loaded with millions of points of interest, exhibit clear and colorful displays, and have many other features in common. Every model in the Nuvi 1300 series is going to give you certain basic features. All of them have large, clear displays that are readable in sunlight and from any angle. They all also have maps, driving directions, and speech-to-text. The main difference between the Garmin Nuvi 1350 and the Nuvi 1300 is in the City Navigator feature. The 1300 comes with maps of the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The 1350 has a more comprehensive City Navigator North America which includes driving, walking, and mass transit information for Canada as well. If you live or frequently drive in Canada, then $ 50 is a small price to pay for this relevant information. No matter where you travel, however, you're sure to appreciate having driving, walking, and mass transit information available right at your fingertips.

Additional features on the 1350 that are not on the Nuvi 1300 include:

* GTM 25 travel information – this is a great system for helping you avoid traffic delays and keep to busy schedules. If there's road construction, an accident, or any other traffic problem on your route, the system will alert you and help you plan a way around it.

* Lane assist – if you've ever missed an exit on a busy freeway because you were in the wrong lane and could not get to it, you'll love lane assist. This function allows your GPS to graphically-display arrows showing you which lane you need to be traveling in long before your turn-off comes enabling you to be where you need to be.

* Speed ​​limit display – getting stopped for speeding can be time-consuming and expensive. With speed limit display you'll always know what the speed limit is so that you can avoid being stopped.

Having read the basic differences between the two Nuvi systems, the 1300 and the 1350, it's up to you to decide if it will be worth paying the higher price for the 1350. Ask yourself a few questions to see.

1. Do you live in Canada or travel there often? If so, then the 1350 with its City Navigator North America is the only way to go.

2. Do you often travel in unfamiliar areas or have trouble getting around in big cities? Lane assist could help you out a lot if you do.

3. Do you honestly care about sticking to the speed limit? If you do, then the speed limit display could be just what you're looking for.

4. Do you live in a large metropolitan area or a sparsely-populated rural area where road conditions could cause you major delays? Then having the travel information to alert you to road problems could be a major plus.

Start by making a list of all the things you're looking for, and then take the time to compare your list to the features of each model. Keep in mind that every additional feature you get is going to cost you more money, so stick to the things you know you're going to need to find the most cost-effective unit for your needs. It may even be the Garmin 1350 once all is said and done.

What discussion of the great game of ice hockey does not begin and end with Wayne Gretzky ? You may or may not be a fan of the Great One , but you can no easier deny his dominance and the impact he had on the game than you can convince Rosie O'Donnell that subtle is better.

Growing up as a huge NBA enthusiast (my tenure as a fan began when I was about 8-10 years old with Julius Erving and ended with the retirement of Sir Charles Barkley ), I was no Chicago Bulls fan, but once Michael Jordan entered the scene, you just knew you were seeing something special.

And like Gretzky (indeed despite the only viable similarity to Gretzky), whether you loved him or hated him, you certainly had to grant the man his place in sports history.

Over the years, many have been tempted to compare the likes of Wayne Gretzky's dominance in the sport of ice hockey to Michael Jordan's own personal statistical stranglehold on professional basketball. Still others are tempted to compare Tiger Wood's dominance in professional golf to the statical marvel of the Great One.

Any such comparisons are done in vain.

Yes, each of the aforementioned superstars dominated (or is dominating ) their relevant sport. But no one did it with the sheer inescapable magnitude of Wayne Gretzky over his twenty year career in professional ice hockey.

To put Gretzky's feats in perspective, if Michael Jordan were to match the Great One's single-season scoring record — statistically speaking — he would have had to average over 70 points per game.

Gretzky started playing Junior B hockey at 14 years old, winning a challenge to existing Canadian amateur hockey rules. That first season, he won rookie of the year, totaling 60 points in 28 games.

As many well know, over his career in the NHL, Gretzky had more assists (1,963) than second place on the all-time POINTS list ( Mark Messier with 1,887).

His record of 2,857 points will never be surpassed.

All said, Wayne Gretzky holds:

40 regular season records

15 playoff records

6 All-Star records

He won 4 Stanley Cups (Oilers), garnered 9 MVP awards, and was the leading scorer in the NHL 10 different seasons.

Not only is he the only player to ever tally more than 200 points in a single season, he completed the feat four times . He scored over 100 points in a season 13 consecutive times, with a total of 15. He also turned 50 hat tricks.

Arguably there has never been a player with such a natural sense of puck flow, ice position, and the ability to create time and space. It was said the Great One had eyes in the back of his head.

In one game, he scored on the drop of the face-off puck twice , against the same goalie.

His greatest attribute, perhaps, was not exemplified by his grace with a stick and puck but rather his presence without them. No dominant force was ever so humble. Rick Reilly , senior writer for Sports Illustrated , once proclaimed the biggest challenge of interviewing Wayne Gretzky was getting him to say anything about himself.

Whether you loved him or hated him, to deny him his place in history is impossible. He was an ambassador for the sport, and reinforced the notion that hockey could be (and is) a game of grace, skill, and honor.
