Are you among the vast majority of golfers who are constantly searching for ways to improve that painfully revealing final score? Well, take heart in knowing that most any golfer will do pretty much anything to improve the quality of their game. Golf lessons are the obvious choice, but some will buy any new product, with golf tips or golf training, that comes along, which offers quick fixes and immediate results. Many golfers will grab any new golf swing training aid, method or philosophy perceived as revolutionary, hoping to short cut the process towards a better round of golf. And, probably worst of all are those who think a better result is guaranteed with the purchase of a brand new set of golf clubs and, for some, the more expensive the better.

But, these are all pitfalls that any golf beginner should certainly try and avoid. Lack of success in your golf game is most often a result of misplaced priorities and overlooked fundamentals. It's not about the products delivering empty promises, nor is it your inability to drive the golf ball 350 yards, no matter how strong your golf grip or how hard you try to infuse super human powers into your follow through, as you swing the mighty golf club. Surprisingly, in the end, success will absolutely arrive, as you achieve your best golf swing through relaxation, patience and practice. And, a golf lesson or two will not hurt either.

A consistent simple golf swing is without question the most important element in a well played round of golf. It's a matter of controlling uncertainty by changing a key variable into a constant. It's a process that will no doubt exact a reasonable price, as you devote the time and the means to master the golf swing basics. It's important to remember that golf is no different than anything else in life. If you expect favorable results, you'll have to set personal goals and develop good habits that will ensure a positive outcome. Practice, fitness and mental preparation are equally important components in your approach to achieving your best golf swing.

And, most importantly, you should have fun with every aspect of practicing, anticipating and playing the game of golf. That, along with some level of golf instruction involving a few golf exercises and stretches will increase physical fitness and theby add strength and endurance, which will carry you through the final holes. You'll feel better and you'll play better as your golf score and handicap provide testimony to your dedication and hard work.

Either you love golf, or you can’t stand it. However, to a passionate golfer, it’s more than a sport – it’s a way of life. And let’s face it. Even a bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at the office!

There are many facets to golf. It’s no longer a sport just for men, but there are many women pro golfers around too. It’s a great way to enjoy time with business associates, with your friends, and your family. The reason why golf is so popular among businesspeople is because a round of golf puts you in a relaxing, natural setting, where you also have privacy to talk. It means you can discuss business matters in a conducive atmosphere.

One of the world’s greatest golf teachers, Jim Flick, says the following about golf. “Golf is 90 percent mental and the other 10 percent is mental, too.” For this reason, golf could be one of the hardest games you could ever play. However, it’s so easy to learn – so that anybody can quickly learn to play a round of golf. It’s quick to learn, but can take a lifetime to master!

There are three basic rules with playing golf well. They are…

1. Relax when you take a swing. If you tense up, you won’t have the same level of control.

2. Don’t beat yourself up over a missed hole. Just keep your focus on the hole ahead.

3. Good course management. That means, don’t always try to go for a hole-in-one! Sometimes you’ll do better when you take it a little easier.

That’s it! Easy to say. Not always so easy to do. The key is to do it, and keep practicing at it.

However, there’s one problem with golf. That’s that it can cost so dang much to play a round! However, some people learn how to get others to pay to play golf with them. Basics of a Golf Swing

Although you would assume that the basics of a golf swing only include specifics such as your grip, posture and alignment, there are actually many other things to consider each time you hit a ball. Yes, you do need to line up the right way to your target and the ball, have a proper posture and learn how to hold the club, but essentially, these things are only going to get you so far.

Commit to Your Shot

Have you ever noticed how you just have this feeling that you're going to have a bad shot even before you make contact? Could it be that second-guessing yourself is really what's ruining your shot? Some say that golf is 90 percent mental and while that figure may be high, there is certainly something to say about committing mentally to your shot.

You do not need to take 10 practice swings. Line yourself up, take one or two swings at the most, commit to your shot and take it. The longer you prepare for your shot, the greater the chance you have of a mental battle happening in your head that will have a negative effect on your swing.

Stretch Before You Play

According to Adam Smith, Salisbury Country Club's PGA Director of Instruction, you should be warm up your body and stretching out certain muscles before you practice or play. Warmed up muscles mean greater flexibility which translates to a larger range of motion, resulting in a better swing. He recommends at least doing a few jumping jacks, leg kicks and torso rotations before you play, but you should also make stretching part of your daily routine at home to really see results.

Visualize Your Target

It is no surprise that golf becomes a much easier game when it's played from the fairway so keeping your ball on an ideal playing platform should be your goal. Sometimes aiming for the fairway is just too broad, leaving too much room for error.

To practice visualizing your target, go ahead and place a tee about 10 feet in front of your ball, in line with your target. Now you'll make sure that your lower body and shoulders are lined up properly to the ball and then use that tee as a guideline for the head of your club. Just like anything else in life, short-term goals are easier to focus on than long-term ones.

Striking the Ball

Striking the ball accurately is a huge concern with many golfers. Sure, you may get a good solid hit in there occasionally but would not it be nice to hit the ball right every time?

Maintaining posture is key here. A lot of players get to the top of their backswing and then adjust their posture for whatever reason. All this does is make it harder to address the ball. Chances are, if you have someone record you and then you can watch it back, you'll see exactly where you break your posture. Two other things to evaluate are where you're straightening your arm on the golf swing and keeping your eye on the ball.

Many players, especially new ones, become so engrossed in only focusing on the ball that they forget to focus on their swing as well. There needs to be a balance of both. You need to keep your eye on the ball but at the same time, it should really become just a blur because your swing is happening so fast. If you're solely focusing on the ball, your swing will be slower and will lack power and accuracy. Find your harmonic balance and you'll find your perfect swing.
