If you are like many pros and beginners, you might be struggling with a slicing problem so here are some tips on how to fix a golf slice with a driver.
Tip 1: Addressing the ball
Hitting the ball properly has everything to do with addressing the ball to make sure it goes where you want it to. The key here is to make sure your left shoulder is pointed to the direction you want the ball to go in. Otherwise you risk slicing the ball.
Tip 2: Fix a Golf Slice – Grip
Grip is also important. A good rule is with a good grip you should be able to see a few knuckles of the left hand. Not gripping the club this way could mean a bad shot.
Secondly, remember not to grip the club too tightly. A tight grip can allow for a less than square impact with the ball. If the grip is too loose, the club might shake and this movement could radically effect where the ball goes, and not in a good way.
Tip 3: Hip Position
The positioning of the hips is also important. The problem many golfers have is that when they fail to turn their hips during the shot they do not allow the club face to connect squarely with the ball. This causes the club to be open with can lead to many errant shots, a slice among them. That is why proper hip rotation should be one of the first things that you practice.
Tip 4: Fix a Golf Slice – Swing
Control is the key here. Being overly excited can lead to a sloppy swing which conversely results in a poor shot. A club face being open at impact can have all sorts of negative outcomes. The key here is to slow down. Let the momentum of the club hitting the ball generate distance. If you just slow things down and regain control, your accuracy and distance will dramatically improve.
Tip 5: Keep Head Down
When you hit a golf shot, you can not wait to see the ball go and to see if it gets to where you want it to. For that reason many golfers lift their heads too soon and this can cause all sorts of problems with your golf shot. The key here is to keep your head down until all the way through the shot.
Another instance is when players lift their heads when their right shoulder hits their chin. This is an involuntary reaction your brain makes to get your head out of the way. Unfortunately, these results in a poor shot as well. To solve this, it is best to try not to move your shoulder too much during the swing.
These tips on how to fix your golf slice with a driver can help your swing immensely. However, it is advisable that you practice them every day and if you need to make an adjustment do not allow to do so.
