Early extension is one of the top swing “faults” (I prefer the term issue over fault) that golfers struggle with. It causes you to lose your posture and makes it very difficult to control the club face through impact, leading to a 2 way miss – either blocking the golf ball out to the right, or missing to the left with a big hook (for right handed golfers).

The line drill is a great drill to help you stop chunking your shots. Draw a line on the ground and place your club slightly in front of that line, then lean the club a little forward at address.
Practice swinging the club and hitting the ground in front of the line. Start with slow, small swings and work your way up to full swings with the ball.
