Why Hockey Players Make Great Golfers
Many people have noticed that hockey players tend to be great golfers. There are a few reasons for this, and we can use this knowledge to improve our own golf swings.
Many golfers make the mistake of having overactive hands… flipping their wrists. The body tends to straighten up in reaction, and you lose a ton of power.
Hockey players are forced to rely on their body to rotate through the shot because of the fact that their hands are separated on the stick. We can borrow this for golf with a great little drill that I share in this video.
There are a number of other benefits from this drill, so give it a try the next time you are hitting balls!

3 STEPS TO FIX YOUR GOLF BACKSWING
The golf backswing is a key component on the golf swing so get this area right and you have a great chance of hitting better shots.
The golf backswing faults often cause the downswing to be off-plane or it causes golfers to manipulate leading to poor contact on the ball.
You can fix a downswing or a golf shot without having the 3 key components of a backswing in place first.
Wrist Plane in the Golf Swing
I get a lot of questions about how your hands and arms work in the golf swing. So, think about what’s connecting them.
Your wrist should stay at a 90-degree angle to your swing arc throughout your golf swing. Your wrist is hinging and unhinging, not twisting.
Add 20 yards to your drives
I have never met a player who doesn’t want to hit the driver longer. The ability to hit the ball further down the fairway and thus closer to the green makes it easier to not only hit the green but also get the ball closer to the hole, and thus shoot lower scores.
There are a few keys to hitting longer drives and one of them involves your angle of attack to the ball. The angle of attack is a measure of how the club is travelling in relation to the ground at impact, and if you can optimize this you can add distance to your drives without having to increase your club head speed.
In this video I show a simple drill that will allow you to improve this aspect of your impact, thus allowing you to launch the ball higher and thus add 20 yards to your drives.
